DESCRIPTION:Ever wonder how a creator can jump from photography to painting to printmaking\, or textile design to collage\, without skipping a beat? Well\, the truth is it’s all about one of the foundational building blocks we use: Composition… and it’s one of the best things to just play with\, too! \nJoin multi-disciplinary artist Jamie Ashton\, Founder of Unknown Studio and President of the Nanaimo Arts Council\, to explore this creative principle in a fun\, hands-on\, all-ages demo. No prior art experience required. You will be guided through a facilitated session and have the opportunity to try out different layouts using simple\, colorful paper pieces and shapes. The best part? You’ll get to glue down your favourite design to create a mini-masterpiece to take home. Here are all the details—we hope to see you there! \nWhen: Drop-in anytime between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM\nDuration: Each interactive round lasts around 25 minutes. DESCRIPTION:A free meetup organized by Peggy of the Nanaimo Sketch Club focused on Urban Sketching. \n\nBeginner scribblers\, seasoned professional artists\, everyone in-between!\n\nWe’ll meet at Silver Meadows Farm Market in the parking lot near the market for a non-guided sketching and chit-chat session\, Saturday June 27th\, at 10am for about two hours. I haven’t been\, but I trust everyone who’s been recommending this place\, so let’s do it!\n\nWe’ll try to get back together around noon to take a group snap of our sketches – but if you feel you don’t want to participate in that\, that’s totally fine.\n\nBring: Your sketchbook\, your favourite drawing / painting implements\, and a portable chair. DESCRIPTION:Organised by local artist\, Tina Johnson\, Sketchy Folks is a regular meetup for the local community of makers in Nanaimo where you get to talk\, create\, make\, and share art ideas. Create whatever you like during the meetup or follow one of the drawing prompts provided. These prompts are usually fun and silly\, but we will also look at different ways to draw flowers and plants for this one. \nCost: By donation\, but open to anyone with or without a donation.
