Poem by Joy Alexandra Dube

O radiating sunburst scream

my right ankle hobbled

from overuse or old age,

I can’t tell the difference.

Web-trapped in a blue-black

supernova kaleidoscoping of

bruise and tear.

Blood throbs frenzy,

denied its usual coursing

through stringy ligaments

and angry bones.

Triangular shocks

spark and crackle

into neural pathways.

The black hole of my being

starbursts into brain fury

a million miles per second

And the universe howls

yellow pain

again and again.
