| Comments | Brazilian soapstone comes in a variety of colours and shades as evidenced by the pair of carvings based on Mechanical Snails. It is a soft stone which can be carved with an Xacto knife after which it is oiled, in this case with a cloth and some vegetable oil. The idea for mechanical insects led to a book called The Red Door. |
