Quiet Strength

Quiet Strength began with what I love about cheetahs: that beautiful contrast between stillness and incredible power. Here, the two stand quietly together, alert and watchful, with no need to show what they are capable of.

I wanted the painting to feel less like a portrait of two cheetahs and more like an encounter with them. Their natural markings remain, but unexpected colour moves through their coats and into the landscape around them, blurring the line between the animals and their surroundings. There is something both gentle and powerful in their presence, which is ultimately where the title Quiet Strength came from.
