Submissions are now open! The submission period opens February 8th, 2026 and ends at 11:59pm on March 8th, 2026. The entry fee for Adults (19+) is is $10 for NAC members and $39 for non-members for each story submission. There is no entry fee for the Youth (13–18) or Junior (12 and under) categories, but authors can only submit one story. Nanaimo Arts Council members can access their membership rate by registering at the link below. Sign up for a membership here.
Please note that this is a regional contest open only to authors living on Vancouver Island or the Gulf Islands. Professional writers and authors with multiple publications are ineligible for this competition. Entries must not be previously published. Submissions which have placed 1st, 2nd , or 3rd in a previous ISFR event may not be entered again.
